What do celebrities get done to their teeth?

Celebrity teeth are often not the result of one treatment, but of a combination of treatments chosen for each concern. If alignment is the problem, orthodontics; if color is the problem, whitening; if shape and color are both the problem, porcelain veneers.

ConcernTreatment mainly usedWhat changes
Crooked or protruding teethOrthodontics (full, partial, clear aligners)Alignment, protrusion

Badly damaged teeth, teeth with root canal treatmentCrownsOverall shape and strength

In the treatment room I often hear, “Please make them look like that celebrity.” I first ask what it is you like in that photo: the color, the evenness, or the size. The treatment needed is completely different depending on the answer.

What makes teeth look like celebrity teeth?

Smiles that people perceive as “celebrity teeth” share a few common conditions.

  • Even alignment, with the front-tooth midline matching the center of the face
  • A brightness that suits the skin tone (no brighter than the whites of the eyes)
  • A gum line that shows only about 2mm of gum when smiling
  • A smile line where the line joining the tips of the upper teeth follows the curve of the lower lip
  • Proportions in which the central front teeth are widest and the teeth become narrower toward the sides

The treatment is decided by which of these is lacking. For example, giving porcelain veneers to someone whose alignment is good and only the color is a little disappointing can be an excessive choice.

Is it okay to have bright white teeth like celebrities?

Teeth on screen look whiter than they really are because of lighting and retouching. If you choose the brightest shade, the teeth can look like dentures up close, or the color difference with the lower teeth and molars can become large. I usually recommend a shade slightly darker than the whites of the eyes, matched to the skin tone.

When choosing a shade, it is good to look in a mirror together in natural light. A shade chosen under artificial lighting tends to look brighter outdoors. I have written more about the reasons in Why front teeth that are too white look unnatural.

What are the side effects and limits of celebrity veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a treatment that is hard to reverse, so you should know the side effects and limits first.

  • If the teeth are shaved down, they do not return to how they were
  • After shaving, the teeth can be sensitive for a few days to a few weeks
  • If you grind your teeth or have a habit of biting things off with your front teeth, veneers can chip or come off
  • Staining can appear at the margin, or the gums can recede so the margin becomes visible
  • If veneers are forced onto teeth that do not have room for them without shaving, they look bulky
  • Usually, somewhere between 10 and 15 years, you will need to consider repairs or replacement

Most cases of regretting no-prep veneers also happen when people started without knowing these limits. Please also read Why people regret no-prep veneers.

How we do it at Wonjin Dental

Wonjin Dental is a clinic focused on front-tooth treatment. Depending on the cause, we recommend different options: Brinate, which is placed without shaving the teeth, partial orthodontics, gum contouring, and front-tooth crowns. Dr. Soyeon Kim of orthodontics and Dr. Sanha Lee of aesthetics also see patients.

If the teeth stick out forward or there is a skeletal protruding mouth, we do not place Brinate. In those cases, rather than forcing a fit with veneers, I explain how to move the teeth first. You can see all of our front-tooth treatments in Front-tooth treatment.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to get teeth like a celebrity?

It varies greatly depending on which treatments are combined. At Wonjin Dental, Brinate is ₩330,000–₩990,000 per tooth, and professional whitening is ₩110,000 per session (as of September 2026, VAT included). Please check the fee guide for detailed amounts.

Can porcelain veneers alone straighten my teeth without orthodontics?

Slight misalignment can be tidied up on the surface with porcelain veneers. But if the teeth are very crooked or protruding, the more you try to correct it with veneers, the more the teeth must be shaved or the thicker the veneers become. In that case, orthodontics comes first.

Do many men get porcelain veneers too?

Many men also come for consultations ahead of job interviews, presentations, or filming. For men, a slightly angular shape and a natural tone often suit better than a shape that is too white or too rounded.

How many front teeth are usually done?

Usually 6 to 10 teeth are done, based on the teeth that show when you smile. When only filling a gap, it may end with 2. We decide by looking at the color of the neighboring teeth and how much shows when you smile.
