When a patient sits down, Dr. Jaehyung Park looks at the smile first. Which tooth shows first when you talk, and where the teeth meet when you close your mouth. That is usually where the day's treatment lies.
Fixing only that tooth makes the mirror easier to face for a while. But if the neighboring teeth are weak, if the bite leans to one side, or if the gums have already receded, the new front tooth is the first thing to run into trouble. So we do not look only at the surface; even when treating a front tooth, we check the decay and gums beneath it.
Shape and color come after that. We aim close to the look you want, but we do not make the surface pretty while the supporting teeth are weak. It might look good in photos, but in the mouth it soon shows.
Dividing what to treat today, what to leave as it is, and what can wait — and deciding that order together with the patient — is Dr. Park's job.
