Lip filler keeps the upper lip from rising as much, without touching the teeth. It is used when the gums and teeth are normal but the upper lip rises a lot when you smile.
It is not permanent, so it needs to be repeated regularly. We do not use gum reshaping in its place.
If a lot of your upper teeth show even when you are not smiling and the lower part of your face is long, lip filler will not solve it.

Why lip filler
Your teeth are not touchedThe teeth are neither trimmed nor covered. We look at the muscle that lifts the lip.
The gums are not cutIf the lips are the cause, removing gum means treating a place that is not the cause.
You can check it on the spotWhen you smile, the change in how far the lip rises shows right away. You will need to come back in a few months, though.
How lip filler works
The teeth are not touched. First we check what rises when you smile.
- 01
We look at your face at rest
If things look fine when you are not smiling and the gums show only when you smile broadly, the lips are the cause. If the gums are uneven, lip filler does not come first.
- 02
We decide where to inject
We look for the areas that pull the upper lip up most strongly. Nothing is injected over the teeth.
- 03
We inject only a little
Only as much as will keep its shape without spreading. This is not a treatment that uses a lot of filler.
- 04
You smile and we check
We check together, on the spot, how far your lip rises. You will need to come back in a few months.
What shows when you smile
When a lot of gum shows, where we treat depends on the cause. We look at the cause first.
The gum is covering the teeth
This is when the teeth are a normal length, but the gum covers them so the visible part looks short. We reshape the gumline by the amount that is covering them, and we also check how far up the bone comes.
The upper lip lifts high
This is when the gums and teeth are normal, but the upper lip lifts higher when you smile. We leave the teeth alone and reduce how far the lip lifts. The effect is not permanent.
The teeth have worn shorter
This is when the teeth have worn down and become shorter, not when there is more gum. Removing more gum would expose the roots, so the first step is a treatment that restores the lost length.
The jawbone is long
When the jawbone is long, treating the gums or lips will not change it. We do not stop at this treatment; we tell you right away.
How long does it last?
It is not permanent. It needs to be repeated every few months; we will tell you the exact interval after your exam.
Isn’t this gum surgery?
If the gums are the cause, we do gum contouring. If things are normally fine and the gums show only when you smile broadly, we use lip filler.
Are the teeth treated as well?
The teeth are not touched. We work only on the upper lip.
Does this apply if my face looks long?
If a lot of your upper teeth show even when you are not smiling, the upper jawbone is the cause. In that case, treating the lips will not change it.
