A front-tooth implant places a tooth only where the front tooth is missing, and matches the shape of the gum as well. The neighboring teeth are not shaved down.
If even one tooth in a row of front teeth looks different, that tooth stands out. That is why front teeth are the most demanding. Treatment takes a few months.
The steps are the same as for a back-tooth implant. The difference is that the gum shows.

Why a front-tooth implant
Neighboring teeth are not shavedWe do not hang a bridge on healthy front teeth. We fill only the one missing space.
It matches the rowNot just the color: a gum line that is off by even one tooth is noticeable, so we look at the gum line too.
Your remaining teeth are keptBecause we do not shave and join the neighboring teeth, your remaining front teeth stay as they are.
How a front-tooth implant works
Placing the implant is the same process. The visible gum is half of the treatment.
- 01
We look at why the tooth was lost
We check whether it was knocked out or had a problem at the root, and how the gum next to it looks.
- 02
We measure the bone and gum line
Before placing the screw, we check whether the gum there can reach the same height as its neighbors. This is where the result is decided.
- 03
We place the screw and wait
This takes a few months. In the meantime, the visible space is sometimes covered with a temporary tooth.
- 04
We build up the gum along with the tooth
We do not just put a tooth on top. It should be indistinguishable from the teeth beside it.
How to fill a gap from a missing tooth
A gap from a missing tooth can be filled without removing anything from the teeth next to it. We start with where the tooth is missing.
Reducing the neighboring teeth to bridge the gap
One option is to reduce the healthy teeth on both sides of the gap and connect them like a bridge. Wonjin Dental Clinic does not offer this treatment, because it means reducing healthy teeth.
Placed only where the tooth is missing
Only the gap is filled, with nothing removed from the neighboring teeth. It takes a few months because we wait for it to fuse with the bone, and after that you need lifelong gum care.
For front teeth, the gum is matched too
The placement process is the same, but front teeth are different because they are visible. If the gum shape is even slightly different, that tooth stands out. That makes it harder.
The supporting gum and bone come first
If the bone and gum cannot hold, the implanted tooth is the first to loosen. Looking only at the front teeth is not enough to protect them.
Why is it more demanding?
Back teeth are hard to see, but with front teeth even a one-tooth difference in gum height is noticeable right away. This work is added on top of placing the implant.
How long does it take?
It takes a few months. The wait for the implant to bond with the bone is the same as for back teeth.
Wouldn’t it be faster to shave the neighboring teeth and join them?
It can be faster, but two healthy front teeth would have to be shaved. We decide together after the exam.
What if my gum has receded?
Before placing the tooth, we check the condition of the gum and bone. Receded gums do not grow back on their own.
