Dr. Sanha Lee does not start by picturing the finished shape. Dr. Lee starts with the color of your teeth now, the translucent layer at the tips, and the line where each tooth meets its neighbor. Add a whiteness or length that was never there, and that one tooth looks out of place when you smile.
We understand the wish for whiter, straighter teeth. But every face has a place where the teeth belong, and a color that shows through from beneath the gums. Ignore that and match everything at once, and it may look neat at first, but every time you open your mouth the teeth look made.
So Dr. Lee looks inside first. Polish only the surface of a tooth that is weak inside, and the shape may hold for a while, but the tooth will not. Treating decay, cracks and sensitivity first is part of cosmetic care. Only a surface placed on a healthy tooth looks like your own.
The gap between "a little brighter" and "obviously done" is bigger than it sounds. Dr. Lee changes things only up to the line where the neighboring teeth and lips look natural. That doing less stays beautiful longer is something Dr. Lee tells you at the first consultation, not later.
